I’d Like to Visit: New York

// February 8th, 2012 // No Comments » // Travelog

For anyone who knows me, this is a pretty obvious choice. I’ve wanted to visit New York for such a long time. There are two main reasons: Saturday Night Live/GE Building, and New York’s Hit Music Station; Z100. I’m a pretty big fan of US radio, and I’m an even bigger fan of Z100 and Dave Foxx, so not visiting this fine city, and trying to blag a tour of the radio station would be nuts.

If I could get tickets to an SNL show too, that would be the icing on the cake!

I’d Like To Visit: Los Angeles

// February 7th, 2012 // No Comments » // Travelog

Today sees the start of me cataloguing the places I’d like to visit. This is bourne out of a conversation I had with my wife where we were talking about places we’d like to go.

One of the places on my list is Los Angeles, California. There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, a lot of my favourite movies and TV shows are based there. Secondly, there’s a radio station I’d like to visit when I’m there: KIIS-FM. KellyKellyKelly works there, Seacrest works there – what more can I say?

It’s sunny pretty much all the time, and you never know, I might be talent-spotted and end up in a blockbuster movie! Probably not.

Day 3: Sleep

// February 5th, 2012 // No Comments » // 365, Baby, Photography

This weekend has been busy. I’ve made a trip to the local civic amenity (the local dump!), I’ve tidied my studio (partly), I’ve been on call to soothe and comfort my baby during the night (I do the weekends, my wife does the weeknights), and I’ve done the odd favour here and there (I’m a jolly nice guy, you know). Oh, and I took today’s picture. All of this makes me tired, as you can imagine.

Day 2: Food

// February 4th, 2012 // 1 Comment » // 365, Baby, Photography

I like my food. A little too much, some would say. I probably don’t need to eat as much as I do. My wife and my tailor will tell you that.

One person who eats more than me (number of times per day, not by volume) is my daughter Molly. She’s six months old, and we’ve just started to wean her. This post is dedicated to all those hours my wife and I spend preparing formula, mashed & puréed vegetables, and sterilising all kinds of containers.

Day 1: Radio Lollipop

// February 3rd, 2012 // No Comments » // 365, Photography

If you know me, you’ll probably already know that I like to take a picture or two. Some people think I’m quite good at it. It’s something I enjoy, and I really only do it for me. However, I’ve recently been asked to photograph two weddings. Now, this is something quite different, but I haven’t actually picked up my camera in 2012 yet.

It’s for this reason that I’ve decided to set myself a challenge. Take a photograph of something which has some significance or meaning to me. Every. Single. Day. Today’s photograph reflects my passion for a charity which I’ve worked with for the past 14 years: Radio Lollipop.

Radio Lollipop is a charity providing care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital. I’m the station’s chief engineer, and Tuesday night presenter, but more important than that; I’m a volunteer. Every single one of Radio Lollipop’s volunteers is just that; a volunteer. No-one is paid for their time. From the volunteers on their very first night, right up to the chairman of the Board of Trustees, everyone gives their time freely and generously in order to realise this very simple fact: happy children get better quicker.
